Katherine Hogle Cole was married to Lester Cole, one of the "Hollywood Ten." She championed the rights of Native Americans, and devoted herself to the release of Leonard Peltier, an imprisoned member of the American Indian Movement. Eileen Bernal, with whom Cole corresponded, was a founder of the Peace Councils Movement in England, and wife of the Marxist activist, John Bernal.
